Driving in Belgium: what Americans should know
- A valid U.S. driver's license is accepted for short stays. An International Driving Permit is a good idea.
- No right turn on red. Watch out for the "priority to the right" rule: at unmarked intersections, traffic coming from your right has the right of way.
- Speed limits: 50 km/h (31 mph) in towns, 90 km/h (56 mph) on country roads in Wallonia, 120 km/h (75 mph) on motorways.
- Most rental cars are manual. Reserve an automatic in advance.
- Parking in downtown Bastogne is mostly paid (pay-and-display or app). The Bastogne War Museum and the memorials have free parking.
Other practical information

- Weather: cool and often damp. Winters are cold, with snow possible from December to February.
